Our Team

Jason Stockley

Camps Manager

This is my 15th year with Camps and I have so many favourite Camp memories! I love seeing campers get excited about the University experience after having a great time at SFU Camps. I also love seeing former campers; deciding to give back as a Camp Volunteer, gain great work experience as a Camp Instructor, or even begin their professional career as a Camp Programmer. Something interesting about me is that back in the day I was on the original Vancouver Canuck's Ice Promotion Team.

Heidi Yeung

Head Programmer of Human Resources

This is my 4th year with SFU Camps. My favourite camp memory is when I was an instructor for one of our outdoor camps and we went on a field trip to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. I am terribly afraid of heights. But, a camper took my hand and walked us both across the bridge and told me “It’s going to be okay, you can do it Heidi!” Something interesting about me is that I love doing hot yoga and running but only to counteract the constant eating I do as a self-proclaimed foodie.

Rachel Tang

Head Programmer of Facilities & Finance

This is my 4th year with SFU Camps. My favourite camp memory is when we organized an Easter Egg Hunt for the Clan Junior Camp and each camper was allowed to grab 5 chocolate Easter eggs. One camper sneakily came up to me and whispered, “I have 6 eggs! Don’t tell Heidi!” ... Let's just say he didn't get away with it. Something interesting about me is that I enjoy playing with Rubik’s cubes of all sizes. If you have a camper who can’t solve their cube, come find me!!

Justin Theiss

Head Programmer of Volunteers

This is my 2nd year with Camps. My favourite camp memory happened while I was a general instructor with our Biology Camp. During our lesson the campers seemed to be really tired so my head instructor got everyone to stand up and we all danced to Justin Bieber's Despacito. Something interesting about me is that I love to sing and played the character of Tony in my high schools performance of Westside Story.

Brendan Lau

Head Programmer of Camp Services

This is my 2nd year with Camps. My favourite memory is when I was teaching a CPU class on Photoshop and was leaning over a camper trying to help them with their assignment. As I was helping him, he looks towards my arm and says, "Oooooh, big muscles!" It was cute.  Something interesting about me is that I like to play Ultimate Frisbee and if you need help learning how to throw a disc I am your guy.

Waverley Jang

Assistant Programmer

This is my 2nd year with SFU Camps. It is really hard to choose a favourite memory but I would have to say that my most favourite memory was talking with and building connections with the international campers that were participating in the Science Camps. At the end of the week, they even wanted me to take pictures with them as souvenirs to show their family back home. One interesting thing about me, is that my dogs and I all have water related names. My current dog is named Ocean, my past dog was named Tsunami, and my nickname is Wave.

Jessica Mayne

Assistant Programmer

This is my 3rd year at Camps! One of my favourite camp memories was when I was on a field trip to Deep Cove, I was in a kayak with an international camper. She couldn't speak much English but she "ooed and awwed" at the mountains and water around, as I paddled us forward. It was such a rewarding moment for me to be part of. Aside from Summer Camps, in the summer I enjoy blueberry picking!

Charity Chan

Assistant Programmer

This is my 2nd year with SFU Camps. I have to say my favourite memory was once during staff-volunteer of the week nominations, one of my volunteers told me she forgot to write a nomination for me. I told her not to worry about it but the week after she gave me a hand-written letter saying how much she appreciated all my help and mentorship. I still have their letter. One interesting thing about me is that I love knitting and drinking tea.

Michelle Jung

EDUCATION CONSULTANT

This is my 7th year with SFU Camps and I have so many fantastic memories! Over the years, I have found it very rewarding to watch as former campers become volunteers, and as former volunteers become instructors. It’s very gratifying and such a celebration, especially when the now instructor was once your camper! A fun fact about me is that I enjoy photography, interior design, and watching musicals.
