Mini-university (8 - 14 years)

A true university experience! Session A and Session B each offer exciting possibilities, as our university students teach campers in a fun and creative way. Not only will they learn in the campus classrooms and labs, but they will also be able to use the SFU sport facilities, including gyms, fields, and the pool. Individual classes on each subject will be held each day. Large group projects/productions that involve ALL subjects and all age groups will take place each day. Approximately two hours of recreation time will be included.

Session A

Engineering: Study how the structures in cities were built, how vehicles work and more. (e.g. build a bridge with popsicle sticks and see how much weight it can withhold)

Biological science: Explore marine life, forests and land creatures.

Business and marketing: Develop your business and marketing skills, manage and network your way to the top. Talk about how movies like Super Size Me has an effect on companies like Mc Donalds.

NOTE: There will be no camp on August 6 due to the statutory holiday.

Session B

Physics: We make physics fun with a variety of interactive presentations that expose students to the forces and interactions that govern our universe. This exciting and educational training ground for young scientists will include experiments with laser and light shows, electrical and magnetic displays, as well as heat and thermodynamic demonstrations.

Chemistry: Discover the science and reactions of the molecules that surround us. (eg, build a volcano and make it erupt)

Communications and media: Learn how much the media affects your daily life. (eg, write a sample script for a TV commercial).

NOTE: There will be no camp on August 6 due to the statutory holiday.
