Softball (7 - 17 years)
College Experience & Identification camp - LIVE-IN & COMMUTER Options (Girls 12–17 years)
A week-long college experience for campers, giving them the opportunity to experience college life, living in SFU dorms, eating meals in SFU dining facilities, and receiving college caliber training. While the camp’s focus is on elite development, it will also be about the experience that one can only get by residing high atop Burnaby Mountain on the SFU campus. In addition to technical softball training there will be sessions on speed and power development; mental training; and exposure to specially designed, interactive university academic classes. Campers will benefit from an opportunity to train in the same environment that produced four NAIA national championship softball teams, nine NAIA regional championships in the past 12 years, and also helped develop eleven SFU athletes who have gone on to compete in the Olympic Games. Camp instruction is by SFU head coach and former Olympic coach Mike Renney and a staff of current and former athletes.
The live-in component includes four nights in the SFU residence and three meals per day (two meals on Monday and Friday). The commuter component includes a lunch each day.
Softball Half Day Co-Ed (7–14 years)
Members of the varsity softball team will be providing instruction is various aspects if the game of softball, including throwing, fielding and hitting. Skill instruction will be through both the use of demonstration, drills and interactive games. This camp is geared towards introductory level participants. Each participant is encouraged to bring their own glove if possible, however all other equipment is provided. Campers are grouped by age and skill level.
Softball Development Clinics Co-Ed (7 - 14 years)
Throughout the summer (July and August), SFU softball will be conducting three-day grassroots co-ed development camps around the Lower Mainland, for only $125. These camps cover the basics, including hitting, bunting, throwing, catching, fielding, base running and sliding. Mike Renney (head coach softball) organizes these camps and provides varsity-student athletes for instruction. At the time of printing, the dates and locations for these camps had not yet been confirmed.
