DY Youth Mentoring Cafes (virtual)
Linking newcomer youth to post-secondary pathways
DIVERSEyouth and the SFU Surrey - TD Community Engagement are partnering to develop and facilitate a new series of virtual mentoring cafes that link newcomer youth ages 16-24 in Surrey to SFU students. SFU students will act as mentors, providing knowledge and ideas to support the DIVERSEyouth participants as they consider post-secondary as a pathway or next step in their lives.
Over four sessions, the program will create social connection; facilitate information sharing about the content and experience of studying subject areas of interest to the newcomer youth; and let newcomer youth know about resources available to them for post-secondary study, such as learning and financial support.
