Science Alive (virtual-summer only)
The SFU Surrey - TD Community Engagement Centre, the City Centre Library and SFU's Science AL!VE have partnered together to offer two 1-week Science AL!VE camps free of charge for children in grades 5-7 from newcomer and inner-city communities.
Science AL!VE is a student-run, not-for-profit organization based at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC. The organization provides opportunities for youth to explore science beyond the textbooks through hands-on, interactive discovery, which stimulates their interest and fosters confidence. Science AL!VE strives to make science accessible to all youth regardless of gender, culture, or level of affluence. Their outstanding staff and volunteers are committed to sparking the enthusiasm and imaginations of their audiences. They serve as positive role models, dispelling the stereotypes associated with STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). For more information about Science AL!VE, please see: http://www.sciencealive.ca/
