I have been in the position of Economic Development Assistant for the last two years with the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako. My position involves a great deal of grant writing and support for non-profit organizations. I also participate in special projects, which have included tourism and entrepreneurship components, as well as collaborative groups, such as the Regional Communications Team and Bulkley Nechako Workforce Opportunities Table. Although I have over ten years’ experience working in local government, this position is a first for me in the Economic Development field as my education and previous positions have been in office administration.

Burns Lake is my hometown, having been born and raised here, and is a smaller community of approximately 2,000 residents. In 2002, I moved away to Alberta and returned here in 2016 to raise my own family. Raising a family in rural BC has me constantly thinking about the challenges in our community but also the opportunities it presents. My hope is that through the CED Program, I will increase my capacity to better serve the community and the region and address the challenges we face in rural Northern BC.
