Hi! My name is Tamlyn and I am very grateful to work for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, engaging with community members who support our work, and partnering with other Foundations to meet the unique needs of our young patients and their families across BC. I enjoy complex conversations, asking questions, waiting for the answer, and digging deeper with people about what their passions and interests are, what make them tick, and what their visions are for the future. I have learnt profound lessons simply by asking questions, and actively listening to folks across the province share their stories.

As a parent to two kids (age 5 & 2) I feel inspired to learn more about economic development and help my smaller town succeed following this pandemic. As my work brings me virtually to communities across BC, I want to understand more about how economic community development differs across the province. I have a personal commitment to being an active participant in reconciliation and supporting minorities, and as a former immigrant myself, I feel strongly that it’s up to each of us to commit ourselves, within our own capacity, to learn and grow more. My professional commitment is to bring what I learn back to my foundation and peers to propel positive change forward within our organization. I feel it’s in pushing my comfort zone that I’m able to expand my capacity, and therefore, I can learn and grow more each time I’m forced to relook at how I think and feel about the world around me. I look forward to having my thoughts challenged in a respectful environment and learning from everyone in the program. Thank you!
