Centre for Global Political Economy

SFU’s Centre for Global Political Economy was founded in 2003, by then-Director Stephen McBride. The Centre is housed in the Department of Political Science, and involves faculty from many academic units at SFU and from other universities. Its aim is to provide a focus for the study and analysis of global political economy at Simon Fraser. The Centre organizes workshops and conferences designed to bring together political economy researchers to present and discuss their research in public and scholarly fora; supports visits by distinguished academics; sponsors or co-sponsors post-doctoral fellows; and coordinates graduate reading and discussion groups, in the hope of bringing students with shared interests together across disciplinary and faculty boundaries. The current Director is Geoff Mann, of the Dept. of Geography.
