About the Centre
The formation of the Centre for Global Political Economy was approved by SFU's Board of Governors on 17 April 2003. The Centre is housed in the Department of Political Science, and involves faculty from other academic units at SFU, to provide a focus for existing strength in the field of global political economy. It aims to win a position as an international centre for expertise on the global political economy. The Centre’s activities include: · Organizing research teams to pursue major collaborative research grants · Organizing workshops and conferences designed to bring together political economy researchers and to publish the results in top quality academic outlets · Inviting distinguished academics as Visiting Fellows · Seeking to attract post doctoral fellows · Encouraging scholarly exchanges for faculty and graduate students · Seeking to inform policy debates on relevant issues by publishing in its own name, or in collaboration with others, academically reviewed, but accessible reports on issues of global political economy. · Organizing public lectures · Disseminating pre-publication working papers · Assisting in developing graduate courses and teaching materials within Global Political Economy.
