Simon Fraser University’s new hub for technology and social innovation, located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, is named after Beedie School of Business alumnus Charles Chang, who donated $10 million to SFU Beedie to establish the Charles Chang Institute for Entrepreneurship. The Centre is the home of SFU's social innovation lab and venture incubator RADIUS (Radical Ideas, Useful to Society) and hosts ChangeLab, an in-depth experiential course. The centre complements SFU’s existing downtown presence and recognizes the synergies between academia and community in embedding entrepreneurship in business and civic life.
Nominated for a best-in-design award in 2017, the six-storey, 30,000 square foot Charles Chang Innovation Centre has emerged as a key location for entrepreneurship, innovation, social impact, and management education. The space supports the creation of new ventures and innovations in the community. According to Beedie School of Business Dean Ali Dastmalchian, the Centre develops “leading edge technology and social ventures tackling some of society’s and the technology industry’s most pressing challenges.”
