Laboratory Safety

Laboratory Safety Training is mandatory for all individuals working in a laboratory setting. This training is available at the beginning of each semester, three times per year and consists of ~ 12 hours of instruction, separated into five modules - General Laboratory Safety, Chemical Safety, Biosafety, Spill Response and Fire Safety. Individuals can register for all five modules, or select only those that are relevant to them. Please refer to the Laboratory Safety Manual  for additional information.

You can register by emailing Anne Carchesio <carchesi@sfu.ca> or online through the Environmental Health & Research Safety website.

New employees should review the Employee Safety Training Handout  with their supervisor and return the completed 3-page document to the Laboratory Manager, Dr. Hamel Tailor. You should also speak with your supervisor to determine whether you need additional safety training (e.g. Radiation Safety).
