SFU Childcare Society is pleased to welcome Rachel Day as the new Executive Director of the SFU Childcare Society.

Rachel brings significant experience and skills in teaching, leadership, program design, and community development. She has over 24 years of experience in early and school age child care and education and is passionate about the important role it plays for our young citizens and community.

Originally from the UK, she has held a variety of roles including elementary school teacher, leadership of pre/kindergarten departments, to progressing to more senior positions as a primary school vice principal and education consultant before moving to Canada. Upon moving to Vancouver, she became a junior kindergarten administrator and then the Executive Director of Highlands Preschool Centre Society, a non- profit organization that provides early years education for 160 children between the ages of 2 to 5 years. Most recently Rachel comes to us from Britannia Community Services in Vancouver, as the Manager of Child Care Services, where she was responsible for managing and supporting four independent child care societies and nine child care programs with 300 spaces and 75 staff.

We are very much looking forward to Rachel joining us as the new Executive Director.  Given her skills, experience and collaborative approach, we expect that under her leadership, the Society will continue to provide exemplary child care and learning for the community.
