PICS Fellowships

PICS Graduate Fellowships call for applications

PICS fellowship are available on an annual basis to outstanding Masters and PhD students at the four collaborating universities (UVic, UBC, UNBC and SFU). Fellowships will be awarded for the duration of one year (September 1 - August 31), renewable for one year for Master's students and for two years for PhD students.

PICS Postdoctoral Fellowships

May be available periodically throughout the year depending on the Institute's research needs and priorities. Qualified applicants will have recently completed a PhD and intend to conduct their post-doctoral research at one of the Institute’s four collaborating universities: University of British Columbia, University of Northern British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and the University of Victoria. Fellowships are valued at up to $50,000 per year. The application deadline varies; please check this webpage for updates. Although annual competitions have been held in past years, PICS does not anticipate making a call for applications in the next  fiscal year that ends March 31, 2013.

PICS Visiting Scholars Fellowship

Limited support is expected to be available for the fiscal year beginning April 1, 2012 to host visiting fellows from Canada or abroad for a defined period at one of the Institute’s collaborating universities: University of British Columbia, University of Northern British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and  the University of Victoria. PICS Visiting Fellows will normally be established scholars whose permanent residence is outside British Columbia. Candidates must be nominated by a  sponsoring researcher(s) at one of the partner institutions. For more information visit the PICS website at  http://www.pics.uvic.ca/fellowships.php.

PICS Internships

Provide support for the hiring of university students to work within one of our five research themes. Internships serve to enhance the students’ knowledge and expertise in the area of climate change, as well as to integrate that knowledge into practice. $10,000 in internship funding is available to provincial and local governments and BC NGOs. In addition, PICS will match private-sector and crown corporations contributions to a maximum of $7,000 for internship placements in areas of interest to PICS.
