1. Are oil prospects fueling the humanitarian effort in Somalia?
The role of Canadian peacekeeping troops, when they joined the UN relief effort in
Somalia, was understood to be the protection of food aid. But the revelation of US
oil interests had led some observes to question the purpose behind the intervention.
