Amanda Rae Goulding, Biology

Senior Undergraduate Student

I am finishing my undergraduate degree this fall semester with a bachelor's of science degree, major in biology, specialization in conservation, ecology, and evolution. I have always been passionate about the environment and environmental issues, and hope to one day make a positive impact by protecting Earth's many fascinating ecosystems.

I completed an undergraduate research project this past summer where I observed behavioural changes in Western Tent Caterpillars (Malacosoma sp.) when infected with nuclear polyhedral virus (NPV), determining if the virus changed activity, prefered feeding location, and distance from tent that the caterpillar died of the infected insects.

Future plans include graduate studies in either the conservation field or behavioural and ecological field after working in a related field for a while (although this course has peaked interest into persuing studies in the astrobiological field).
