This spring, SFU welcomed three new communicators into the fold.

Yan Li

Yan Li worked at SFU’s work integrated learning team during her co-op term as a design and communication specialist. She has created eye-catching design pieces for co-op which are still being used around the campus. After she graduated from School of Interactive Art and Technology, she started her career as a visual designer for a marketing agency for years. Now Yan is back at SFU, to start her new role with the Faculty of Applied Science as a multimedia coordinator. You can connect with Yan at fas_multimedia@sfu.ca.

Vanessa Woznow

Vanessa Woznow is the new associate director, communications and marketing with SFU’s Office of the Vice-President, Academic. Vanessa is a writer and communicator with 10 years of experience with non-profit, corporate and regulatory institutions. She has a BA in history and creative writing and an MA in political science from UBC. When not in the office, she enjoys live storytelling, long-distance running and teaching improv. You can connect with Vanessa at vpacomms@sfu.ca.

Ariane Madden

Ariane Madden is the new communications coordinator in the Faculty of Applied Sciences. Prior to joining SFU, Ariane worked at Mitacs for five years where she supported corporate storytelling, events, media relations and social media. She holds two IABC Gold Quill awards, one of which will be awarded this June for a campaign that engaged stakeholders in Ottawa to launch and grow a science policy fellowship program during its pilot year. Growing up, Ariane wanted to be a writer or photographer for National Geographic magazine so it doesn’t seem too far off to now be writing about robots and tech at SFU. You can connect with Ariane at fas_writer@sfu.ca.
