Starting in 2014, WiCS has collaborated with Women in Engineering (WiE) to offer an annual hackathon. During this event, students spend twelve hours developing an app or a site that proposes a solution to a theme. They then pitch their prototype product to a panel of judges for the opportunity to win a prize.

The hackathon encourages students to be creative and provides a fun, safe environment in which to explore the applications of programming. It is also an opportunity for students to not only to showcase technical abilities, but also to practice skills like teamwork, time management, and presentation.
