A multi-disciplinary approach to understanding the pathology, risk factors and treatments for the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease. Physical examination, as well as non-invasive cardiac imaging techniques will be discussed and demonstrated. Both theoretical and practical perspectives inform the course's approach to the principles of behavioural change (diet, physical exercise, and smoking cessation) and risk factor management. Prerequisite: BPK (or KIN) 305 or HSCI 321. HSCI 458 is identical to BPK 458 and students cannot receive credit for both courses. Students with credit for HSCI 471 or BPK 421 (Fall 2013) may not complete this course for further credit.
