Are you a new undergraduate student coming straight from high school? Are you transferring from another post-secondary institution? Are you an international student? We have a whole suite of orientation activities for you!
Welcome Day is for all undergraduate students starting at SFU this spring. During this day you will:
- meet your professors, classmates and the SFU staff who will help launch your time at SFU
- get comfortable on campus
- receive free SFU merch, including a t-shirt
Parents, family and supporters
A 2-hour presentation for parents, family and supporters of incoming students will take place at Burnaby campus Welcome Day on January 3.
Surrey Welcome Lunch
If you are starting your studies at the Surrey campus, please join us at this meet and greet event taking place during the first week of classes. You are encouraged to attend Welcome Day at the Burnaby campus as well.
Celebrate the beginning of the new term! Whether you are new to SFU or a returning student, join us all week for a variety of activities, games (and prizes!), free food, and information about campus resources.
Month of Welcome
Month of Welcome is a celebration of the beginning of the school year. The first week will include free food, games, prizes, and an opportunity to engage with SFU services and resources. Following that, connect with the SFU community through many different programs and events happening at all three campuses.

Residence Week of Welcome is for all students who have a confirmed housing offer and will be moving into SFU Residence. This is in addition to campus events such as University Prep and Welcome Day.
University Prep is a free online course that will help you prepare for your academic transition to SFU. It will take about 45 minutes to complete and will take you step by step through what you need to know and do before classes start.
