This hands-on boot camp is for junior and mid-level communications managers—from agency to in-house—who would benefit from an intensive introduction to strategic communications planning.
We’ll explore the basics, including research, strategy, tactics, measurement, evaluation, and budgeting. This will include discussion the RACE formula, effective tools and techniques, and selecting the right vehicle for your needs—is it an event, a press release, or a Facebook page?
By the end of the day, you’ll have honed your planning skills, clearly understand the elements of an effective communications plan, and be ready to research, develop, and draft your own plan.

Fawn Mulcahy
Fawn Mulcahy has over 18 years of public relations experience in agency, client-side, and consultation capacities. She has produced events in Canada, the US, Russia, Switzerland and the UK.
Currently the senior manager of sponsorship marketing with RBC for BC, Mulcahy spent four years working on the 2010 Winter Games with both the organizing committee and Canwest. She has been teaching public relations and special events planning for eight years.
Darren Roberts
Darren Roberts brings 20+ years of international experience working with organizations addressing challenges including business strategy, brand awareness, evolution and protection, change management and marketing communications (digital and traditional). Roberts excels at balancing data, stakeholder information and trend analysis with a keen business acumen to create strategies and plans that go beyond the communications environment and help companies achieve specific goals.
