Winnie Yun-hua Chiang

After her graduation from the Interpretation and Translation Program at Simon Fraser University in 1997, Winnie Yun-hua Chiang worked as a freelance translator and interpreter for several years. During her freelance years, her work included translating for Maclean’s magazine’s bi-monthly Chinese magazine.

Chiang has been teaching in SFU’s Interpretation and Translation Program since September 2000. She is an avid reader in all subjects, which explains her amazing scope of knowledge in many fields. For her, teaching is a perfect medium for sharing her love for the translation and interpretation profession. It also allows her to share what she knows with her students. She always has a multitude of materials she uses to prepare students for on-site interpreting field trips.

Prior to coming to Canada, Chiang spent 13 years in the international trade, first as an assistant manager and later as an assistant general manager. She had many daily deadlines to meet while juggling long-term projects. She has an impressive ability to stay organized and efficient while being detail-oriented.
