Dr. Aftab Erfan is a scholar-practitioner working in the areas of community development, strategic planning, diversity and leadership development. Aftab started her career in the environmental movement and has been an employee in local government, university and corporate settings. Her PhD in community planning uses an action research approach to examine the possibilities for healing within a small First Nation community on Vancouver Island. She won the Social Sciences and Humanity Research Council's award for Research for a Better Life in 2013, and the Association of Collegial Planning School's Donald Schon memorial award for the best use of reflective practice in research in 2012. Aftab is an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia. She teaches and consults worldwide as the principal of Whole Picture Thinking, and she is the author of numerous book chapters and articles.
