Kate Harrison Whiteside

Kate Harrison Whiteside, a principal at Key Advice, provides writing and editing services, advice, and training. Her background in journalism, business and adult education has opened the doors to many different communications roles.

Whiteside has written and edited—often with a focus on plain language—for government, business, education, service and media sectors. Her clients range in size from global to small businesses, and have been located in Canada, the UK and the EU. Projects have included brochures and manuals, print and online materials, plain language and multi-language, and more.

Her latest plain language writing and editing services have been applied to a driver's handbook, an employee policy manual and a government property tax advert.

Whiteside is committed to lifelong learning and sharing knowledge. She is also passionate about promoting plain language in all communications. With Cheryl Stephens, has co-authored a book called Plain Language in Organizations: An Action Plan, as well as two websites: Plain Language Wizardry and Plain-Language Websites. She has also contributed to a website called Plain Language in Plain English.
