Tara Gallen

Tara Leanne Gallen joined the City of Vancouver in 2017 as a transit planner working on projects ranging from B-Line rapid bus implementation and transit priority projects to fare policy. Prior to the City, Tara worked at TransLink, the Metro Vancouver region's transportation authority, on projects including planning for service expansion on the region's SkyTrain and bus systems, advancement of rapid transit along the Broadway corridor in Vancouver and in Surrey, development of a long-range transportation vision for the region, and growth of regional and municipal planning partnerships. Prior to joining TransLink in 2013, Tara worked in Boston for Nelson\Nygaard Consulting, focusing on designing transit systems for very large cities and very small towns. Highlights included complete transit service redesigns for Miami, Florida; Kansas City, Missouri; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Wilmington, North Carolina. 

Tara holds a master’s degree in city and regional planning from the University of Pennsylvania. She is the author of the "Transit Planning" chapter of Sustainable Transportation Planning (Jeffrey Tumlin, ed., 2012) and lead author of a TCRP Synthesis Report on Transit Systems in College and University Communities (2009).
