David Scherzer

David Scherzer spent twenty years as a perpetual scholar in university. He began by studying English with a minor in Philosophy from Concordia University when it was still Sir George Williams University of the YMCA.

From these humble beginnings, he went on to the University of Calgary, where he obtained an MA in English. His Masters thesis was on the Fool figure in Bernard Malamud’s novels. To keep off the streets and out of trouble, he then got a Diploma in Education from McGill University. Finally, when he could avoid it no longer, he completed a PhD from the Université du Montréal, where he graduated cum laude.

The topic of his doctoral thesis was the magician figure in English narrative and dramatic literature from Mallory (Morte d’Arthur) to the Moderns. Having an insatiable curiosity, he is fascinated by astronomy, metaphysics, comparative religion, psychology, philosophy, literature, and more.
