David Skulski

Well-known to the musical world in Vancouver, David Skulski was appointed solo English horn with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at the age of 17. After early training in New Westminster and Burnaby, as well as experience with the Vancouver Junior Symphony Orchestra, he studied at San Fernando Valley State College, California, and the University of British Columbia.

After leaving the VSO, he played with the CBC Radio Orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Xalapa (Mexico). Upon returning to Canada, he founded Early Music Vancouver. Subsequently, he was resident-in-music at SFU, taught Renaissance music in Austria, and founded and directed The Towne Waytes (a Renaissance band) and Harmonie (an 18th-century wind ensemble).

He is currently principal oboist with the Vancouver Philharmonic and the Pilgrim Orchestra.
