John Stape
John Stape has taught English literature in universities in France, Canada, and the Far East. He holds graduate degrees from the University of Toronto (PhD, 1979) and the University of British Columbia (MA, 1973).
A biographer and scholar of Joseph Conrad, he specializes in late-Victorian and modern British literature, and has published on E. M. Forster, Thomas Hardy, and Virginia Woolf, among other major figures.
Also a specialist in textual editing, he was appointed co-general editor of The Cambridge Edition of the Works of Joseph Conrad (Cambridge University Press) in 2008. He has also reviewed opera, theatre, and classical music events.
Since January 2012, John Stape has been the coordinator of SFU's Continuing Studies Liberal Arts Program.
