Kati Tamashiro currently works for the City of Vancouver as a transportation engineer, where she focuses on infrastructure and roadway design. Prior to the City, she worked in the transportation planning and engineering consulting industry. She has acquired experience in a variety of transportation and traffic studies including infrastructure design, transportation master plans, policy reviews, traffic impact analysis and multimodal assessments. She has a particular interest in the evaluation of environmental impacts, as well as the design and evaluation of active transportation modes. She has developed a multimodal assessment tool, which follows the Transportation Research Board publications, for understanding the operations of pedestrian, bicycle and transit facilities. Kati is an active member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers and the chair of the Traffic Engineering Council Executive Committee – Technical Projects Group.
