Norm Shearing is VP of Development at ParkLane Homes.
He completed his undergraduate degree at SFU and continued his education at UBC where he earned a degree in architecture. Since 1985, Norm’s career has covered architecture, planning, construction and development. He has been involved in some of Vancouver’s largest real estate projects, most notably the planning and redevelopment of the Expo Lands, the Coal Harbour Bayshore property, and the East Fraserlands.
In 2000 he was offered a job with the Grand Bahama Development Company in Freeport, Bahamas. As the director of planning and development, he was responsible for a range of projects including a large resort property, as well as a 400-acre mixed-use residential community for low income Bahamians.
Norm returned to Vancouver to join ParkLane Homes, responsible for the award winning redevelopment of the 130-acre White Pines Mill site. Located in the most southeasterly corner of Vancouver, along the Fraser River it is commonly referred to as East Fraserlands. The mixed use community will be home to over 13,000 residents and include retail, parks, schools, and shoreline walk.
Norm is a member of the Vancouver Development Permit advisory board, sits on the board of Smart Growth BC, the Canada Green Building Council, and is a member on the Urban Development Industries Vancouver Liaison Committee. He is a member of the Architectural Institute of BC, the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
