Jenny Watson

Jenny Watson began her career in technical writing when she moved to San Diego from New Zealand in 1997. She completed a Certificate in Technical and Scientific Writing at San Diego State University, after which she joined the local chapter of the Society of Technical Communication (STC). That led to her first big break: an internship with a company that provided technical writing services to some of the biggest high-tech companies in San Diego, including HP.

Since moving to Canada, she's worked as a contract technical write—sometimes onsite with companies in Victoria and Vancouver, and sometimes remotely for teams in India, the US, and the UK. She enjoys the flexibility of contract work.

"I’m always learning something new," she says. "For me, technical writing is the perfect fit—technical enough to satisfy my curiosity about gadgets and new technology, but also a creative endeavour."
