Ryan Paulson, a graduate of SFU Continuing Studies' Public Relations Certificate, won the International Association of Business Communicators - British Columbia (IABC/BC) Student Communicator of the Year Award for 2011-2012.
The application included a strategic communications plan and supporting work samples, which were evaluated by a panel of senior BC communicators.
Paulson accepted the award at the Bronze Quill Gala on June 19, 2012.
"The fundamental skills I gained [in the program] were instrumental in helping me develop materials that were good enough to meet or exceed a set of rigorous professional standards," he said.
Paulson graduated with the Public Relations Certificate in the fall of 2011.
Update:
In the fall of 2012, Paulson joined the Board of Directors at IABC/BC as the vice-president of sponsorship.
