Throughout the centuries, people have captured, sold, bought, chained, compelled and coerced other human beings. The practice has been so prevalent, has lasted so long, and has been so difficult to curb (it still exists in may countries) that it almost seems normal. We will examine slavery and its astonishing prevalence and variety from antiquity to the present.
