Develop the skills you need to create the kind of community you want to live in with SFU’s Certificate in Community Capacity Building. We’ve designed the program to accredit and recognize the rich learning that occurs in community project work. You will choose, plan, implement, and evaluate a real project that will have a positive impact in your community.

Benefit from a program and schedule that’s customized for you

We offer this program in a variety of ways and with a focus on any number of community issues. It can take anywhere from six months to two years to complete. We recognize the strength and value of diverse learning styles and experiences, and we emphasize experiential and authentic learning opportunities.

We can craft the content to address many different issues, including the following:

  • HIV and social determinants of health
  • Adult and community literacy
  • Youth engagement
  • Aboriginal health and wellness
  • Food security
