Certificate in Dialogue and Civic Engagement

Program structure

Learn in an interactive environment

The Certificate in Dialogue and Civic Engagement consists of five courses, four workshops, and a practicum project. You may take up to two years to finish the program, which we offer at SFU Vancouver.

Courses feature a wide variety of instructional techniques, including group exercises and discussions. You’ll work through the program with a cohort—a group of fellow civic engagement professionals—with whom you can share experience, ideas, and expertise.

Coursework: What to expect

This certificate is university level. You’ll complete reading and in-class exercises for each of the core courses. If you enrol in the certificate, you’ll also complete written assignments for each course, as well as a paper and a poster presentation for your practicum project.

Take individual dialogue and civic engagement courses

If you’re not enrolled in the Certificate in Dialogue and Civic Engagement, you may still register for most courses individually after July 16, 2012, if space is available.

Graduation requirements

To receive the Certificate in Dialogue and Civic Engagement, you must successfully complete all courses, workshops, and your practicum project.
