SFU’s Digital Communications Certificate will give you the knowledge and skills you need to build community around a brand or organization using online content marketing, web advertising and social media.

The program is designed for public relations, marketing, journalism, business, government, NGO, non-profit, and other professionals who need to master the communication tools of the digital age. It’s also ideal for recent university graduates who wish to round out their education with practical training that will give them an advantage in the workforce.

Throughout eight practical courses, we’ll focus on the latest tools, techniques and skills associated with the following:

  • Social media networking, integration and outreach
  • Mobile communications
  • E-commerce
  • Blogs and writing for the web, including the principles of search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Content marketing
  • Online display advertising and pay-per-click platforms
  • Website mechanics

Get applied training from Vancouver’s top digital communications experts

Industry experts from throughout Vancouver teach all of the courses in the program, which will take place at SFU's Vancouver campus.

They'll teach using hands-on case studies from real companies and organizations and give business-focused assignments. After finishing your classes, you'll complete a three-week professional practicum at a Metro Vancouver organization, which will help you solidify your training and build a marketable portfolio for your post-graduation job search.
