The Writer’s Studio

Requirements

We select our writers on the basis of their writing and demonstrated commitment to being a writer. You do not need a degree, and you do not need to have published your work.

Application instructions

Please submit the following:

• An application form
  
• A profile or résumé detailing all your writing-related activities, training, and publications (if applicable)
• A letter that addresses why you believe The Writer’s Studio is the right program for you (no more than two pages)
  
• 20 pages of writing that show us your range (in topics and genres) as a writer

Please prepare your writing samples according to professional standards: Your work should be double-spaced and printed on only one side, and each page should contain the following:

• Your name (top right)
• The title of your work (top centre)
• A page number (bottom centre)
  

Please submit four copies each of your profile, your letter, and your writing samples. Be sure to provide copies, not originals—we will not return your manuscript.

Deadline

Your application is due October 31. We will notify you about your admission by phone or email by mid-November. If you are accepted, you will need to confirm your spot in the program and pay your tuition in full by November 30 (credit card or certified cheque.
