SFU's Creative Writing Community hosts regular readings in Vancouver and Surrey that allow local writers to share their work with the public.

Who reads? Current members and alumni of The Writer's Studio, The Southbank Writer's Program, local emerging writers and authors, and authors on book tours.

Do the readings have a specific focus? Many are mixed genre, some are thematic, and some feature a guest author.

Where are the readings? See below for the locations of our Vancouver and Surrey readings.

When is the next reading?

  • The Writer's Studio's Reading Series takes place on the first Thursday of each month.
  • The Southbank Reading Series takes place on the second Thursday of every second month. Details are available in the schedule below.

Vancouver schedule

Readings are on the first Thursday of every month except for August and start at 8 p.m. Click on the date to see the full list of readers (list is updated one week prior to the reading).

Reading series co-hosts

Surrey schedule

Readings are on the third Thursday of every third month and start at 6:30 p.m. The doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is by donation.
