All Co-op job postings are available online and can be accessed from Symplicity. These postings will only be visible once you've been released by your co-op office.
In order to gain access to the Co-op Job Board (Symplicity) for the next term's Co-op positions, please update your Symplicity profile and complete the following:
1. Complete the web survey.
A link will be emailed to you when we are starting to accept seekers for the next semester. Complete the survey and email (msesosycoop@sfu.ca) a copy of your work permit if applicable.
2. Apply to the SOSY TEST Job
a. Upload your seeking documents to your Documents section in Symplicity:
- Student Information Summary (SIS)
- Co-op Transcript downloaded from your SFU Account
- Updated Resume
- Updated Cover Letter
b. Find the SOSY TEST job and Apply with your documents.
Once you've submitted your documents, they will be reviewed by your Coordinator. Upon approval, you will be released to seek for the next work term.

You are encouraged to check Symplicity every day and note the company name, contact name, and deadline date for the jobs you want to apply to.
Symplicity Tip: Click the "star" to favourite jobs.
The SFU job title listed on each posting indicates the 'home base department' for that particular posting (e.g. CMPT has a Computing Science 'home base,' ENSC has an Engineering 'home base'). You are encouraged to apply to ANY job in ANY 'home base' that you feel qualified for. Employers often look for a mix of skills across different study disciplines and, as a result, very often co-post with different programs (e.g. CMPT and ENSC and SIAT).
Symplicity Tip: Use the "keyword" search and enter keywords like "developer" or languages such as "html" or "c++"
Positions posted at SFU Co-op are often also posted at other co-op institutions. Therefore, it is really important to have an excellent tailored cover letter and a great resume to help you stand out from the crowd!
Don't forget - if you change your address or cell number at any time during the semester, make sure you update Symplicity.

This is an opportunity for you to locate a placement on your own with a company you are interested in working and introduce Co-operative Learning to them.
In order for your job to be accepted as a co-op, it needs to meet the following requirements:
- 420 hours of completed work. This can be based on one full time semester or two part time semesters.
- Supervision. You must be supervised by someone that the co-op office can communicate with about your placement and progress, and someone that will be able to sit down with you to discuss goals and objectives for you for during the work term.
- Remuneration. You need to be compensated for your work in some way, whether through regular wages, an honorarium or covered travel costs (in the case of an international placement).
If the company and position meets the necessary requirements, SFU Co-op will arrange the opportunity for a co-op position and you will be rewarded a $100 SFU Bookstore gift certificate for finding your own position!
