Once you are accepted into co-op, you will need to complete the following pre-requisites before you are able to start applying to co-op jobs:

1. Attend a SIAT Co-op Orientation session

Orientation sessions are held every two weeks. Please email siatcoop@sfu.ca to confirm your attendance OR to schedule an alternate time if you are unable to attend the available sessions. **Please note that this orientation is NOT on Symplicity and is NOT the same as the Discover Co-op orientation

2. Complete Bridging Online 1

Bridging Online 1 (BOL 1) is a two-week online course preparing you to identify and transfer your skills to the workplace. This self-paced course is offered regularly throughout the term and can be completed on your own time. You can register for the BOL 1 under the “Events” tab on Symplicity.

3. Attend the three required SFU Co-op workshops

Participate in the Resume, Cover Letter and Interview workshops – either separately or by attending the "All In One". You can register for the workshops under the “Events” tab on Symplicity.

4. Get your documents reviewed

When you've completed BOL 1 and the workshops and have updated your cover letter and resume, make an appointment with a coordinator or advisor to review your documents or email siatcoop@sfu.ca to set up an appointment time.

You may have one or more advising sessions in order for your documents to be ready for job applications. Pending their approval, you'll be able to apply to seek for a co-op position for the following semester.

5. Consider your portfolio

Start thinking about and compiling project work samples for your portfolio. You can discuss this with your coordinator/advisor during your appointment.
