NELSON, NEW ZEALAND – Sergeant Ross Lienert of Nelson said restorative justice meetings, where the victims and offenders met and talked through the situation, worked extremely well if they were properly conducted.
They were so effective police were considering extending them to deal with teenagers who took part in racial abuse or attacks, he said.

LONGMONT, COLORADO – Domestic violence differs from other crimes in many ways, but some in Longmont are hoping to use restorative justice to help the victims just the same.
A few dozen service providers, law enforcement officials and other domestic violence experts gathered Thursday morning at the Radisson Conference Center to learn about the use of restorative justice in domestic violence cases. The conference was sponsored by the Longmont Community Justice Partnership, Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley and Longmont Ending Violence Initiative.
