This training equips professionals and community leaders alike with vital skills and knowledge to effectively integrate social, economic and environmental concerns into pragmatic strategies which are not only more sustainable, but improve the well-being of all citizens.

Welcome to the Certificate Program for CED Professionals!

The program is comprised of eight, intensive two-day courses for community leaders to explore, with peers, the models and methods for building sustainable, local and fair economies.

Community Economic Development is a multidisciplinary approach that engages the community to:

• stabilize local economies
• create long-term employment
• contribute to the health of the natural environment
• build on local resources and capacities
• increase community control and ownership

For the 2009-2010 school year, the program is offered in-person in Victoria and Vancouver and via video-conference in Dawson Creek, Haida Gwaii, Houston, Williams Lake and Vanderhoof.
