Charlene Easton graduated from York University Masters in Environmental (MES) Studies Program in 1987, after completing a three-year Canadian International Development Scholarship (CIDA). Charlene is currently an associate of the Simon Fraser University (SFU), Centre for Sustainable Community Development.

Her recent work in Canada has focused on advancing a sustainability-driven market place. Notable achievements include co-founding the BC Sustainability Purchasing Network, federal policy and program development related to the environmental technology sector, and corporate social responsibility planning, and management in the mining sector.

Her international work includes a seven year period in Jamaica (1996-2003) in senior management on the Canadian International Development Agency Environmental Action (ENACT) Program. This program fashioned after OECD principles and Agenda 21 guidelines built the sustainable development capacity of key Jamaican government, public, civil society and private sector organizations. She currently provides technical services dedicated to local sustainable community development in Latin America.
