explorASIAN 2021 - Virtual Festival

May 01, 2021

explorAsian 2021 Asian Heritage Month

May 1 - 31

Since 1996, VAHMS has worked closely with local Asian-Canadian communities and organizations that support our vision of becoming the main hub for celebrating Asian-Canadian arts and culture in the Metro-Vancouver area. VAHMS' signature project is explorASIAN, a Metro-Vancouver festival showcasing pan-Asian Canadian arts and culture during Asian Heritage Month in May. This year (2021) is the 25th anniversary of both VAHMS and explorASIAN.

Canada is home to a diverse and multicultural population whose collective cultural wealth has made this country a successful and prosperous one. In British Columbia, and especially in Metro-Vancouver, the vast and continuously growing number of Pan-Asian communities have helped shape our identity, adding vitality and excellence to our cultural life. The celebration of Asian Heritage Month every May is a tangible recognition of the many Asian-Canadian communities that have contributed their knowledge, skills, art, and traditions to strengthen Canadian society. For the Vancouver Asian Heritage Month Society (VAHMS), 2021 marks its Silver Anniversary of dedicated work supporting and advocating for Pan-Asian Canadian artists and community organizations.

25th Anniversary Festival Program features 50+ Asian Heritage Month virtual events and exhibitions presented by various local community partners. Join Zoom for the Virtual Opening Ceremony on May 1st to help celebrate the start of Asian Heritage Month in Canada and explorASIAN’s 25th Anniversary.
