Editor's Association of Canada Graduate Scholarship in Publishing Studies

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of this award is to provide financial support for students pursuing a Master of Publishing degree.
  2. The criteria for this award are:
    1. demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate level and, if applicable, at the graduate level;
    2. registration at Simon Fraser University in the Master of Publishing graduate program;
    3. promise of outstanding achievement at the graduate level with particular emphasis on intellectual ability, originality and ability in research;
  3. This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies.
  4. Application is made on the Application for a Private Graduate Scholarship form and must be accompanied by:
    1. copies of all post secondary transcripts
    2. one letter of reference from a SFU faculty member familiar with the applicant's work
    3. one letter of reference from a board or staff member of a community organization with which the applicant is, or has been involved
    4. a concise outline of the proposed program of studies and area of professional emphasis
    5. a resume, including education and work history
    6. at least one short sample of professional, academic or business writing or portfolio piece
  5. The completed application and all supporting documents must be received by the department of enrolment.
  6. The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee and on the recommendation of the Director of the Master of Publishing Program.
