Terms of Reference

This fellowship is intended for entering or continuing graduate students in the EdD Program in Educational Leadership.

  1. These fellowships are a one-term award valued at $3,125 (.5 fellowship) or $6,250 (1 fellowship). Students are eligible for a maximum of one EdD Fellowship per year.
  2. One of these fellowships will be awarded to an EdD student who meets all of the other listed criteria plus one additional criterion: the student must be a resident of a remote community outside the Greater Vancouver Regional District.
  3. To be eligible to apply for this fellowship, a person must be registered as a full-time, regular (not "on-leave") student and must normally have a first-class (>= 3.50) grade point average. In exceptional cases, other evidence of outstanding ability may outweigh this criterion.
  4. Academic merit is the primary criterion for ranking eligible applicants; the department will advise all applicants in advance if additional criteria will be used. Academic merit is based on grades, research ability, and progress in the graduate program. A Recommended from the Senior Supervisor, or the Senior Supervisor and the Co-Supervisor, where applicable, is also required.
  5. During tenure of the fellowship, full-time status is required. A student may not be on leave during the fellowship and must be paying full fees (not continuing fees) during the tenure of the award.
  6. Application is made on the Application for an EdD Fellowship form. The completed form and all post-secondary transcripts must be received by the Director of Graduate Programs, Faculty of Education, by May 30. The Ed D Program Committee reviews and recommends a list of recipients.
  7. All applications and the recommended list of recipients are forwarded to the Dean of Graduate Studies Office. The awards are made by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee.
