Entrance Scholarships

Simon Fraser University offers entrance scholarships to the best incoming graduate students for full-time graduate study or research. All awards are contingent upon availability of funds.

The Special Graduate Entrance Scholarship (SGES) is a one-year award normally valued at between $2,000 and $10,000. It is intended primarily as a means of recruiting outstanding applicants for admission who are considering other institutions.

The student must be nominated for the SGES by the Graduate Program Chair of the academic unit to which the student will be admitted. Nomination is by memo from the Graduate Program Chair to the Dean of Graduate Studies.

To be eligible to hold the SGES, you must be registered as a full-time regular (not "on-leave" or "part-time") student at Simon Fraser University. Nominations will be accepted at any time up to June 30, or until such time as the SGES budget is fully committed.

Please note: Students do not apply for these awards directly.
