D.E. Clark Annual Graduate Award in Computing Science

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of this award is to recognize and provide funding to a graduate student who has demonstrated positive contributions to the Women in Computing Science (WICS) student group including leadership, volunteerism, and/or ambassadorship to the external community.
  2. The award will be offered to a graduate student who fulfills the following eligibility criteria:
    1. registered full-time in a Computing Science MSc Thesis or PhD Graduate Program
    2. demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate and graduate level
    3. demonstrated commitment through community or volunteer service to the goals of WICS at SFU
  3. Preference will be given to a female student who is or was in a leadership role as a member of the WICS Executive for more than a one-year period.
  4. Students may apply for this award on the online Grad Awards, Application and Adjudication System (GA3) and must be accompanied by:
    1. a current, unofficial SFU transcript and/or copies of all post-secondary transcripts
    2. a letter from the WICS faculty supervisor verifying the applicant's involvement with WICS
  5. The completed application and all supporting documents must be received by the department of enrolment.
  6. The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee, upon the nomination of the Director, Computing Science.
