Leith Wheeler Executive MBA in Aboriginal Business and Leadership Award

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of this award is to recognize and provide financial support to a graduate student who is entering the EMBA Aboriginal Business and Leadership Program in the Beedie School of Business. 
  2. One award, valued at a minimum of $5,000, will be granted annually, in any term, to a student who fulfills the following criteria:
    1. demonstrated academic excellence at the graduate level or in the most recent degree program completed, or demonstrates potential for academic excellence at the graduate level;
    2. is registered at Simon Fraser University in the EMBA in Aboriginal Business and Leadership Program in the Beedie School of Business; and
    3. has a demonstrated history of leadership in business, community, or public service.
  3. This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies, but funding per student should not exceed reasonable costs to participate in the program.
  4. Applications will be made via the online Grad Awards, Application and Adjudication System (GA3). Required documents include:
    1. copies of post-secondary transcripts;
    2. one letter of reference from a faculty member, or other individual, familiar with the applicant's work;
    3. a current curriculum vitae
    4. a personal statement of goals related to the aims of the EMBA in Aboriginal Business and Leadership; and 
    5. a statement of financial resources available for the program.
  5. If a suitable candidate is not identified, the award may be disbursed in a subsequent term or year.
  6. The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies, on behalf of the Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee, upon the nomination of the Program Director of the Executive MBA in Aboriginal Business and Leadership.
