Maureen McBeath Graduate Scholarship

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of this award is to recognize and provide financial support for students enrolled in a graduate program in the Faculty of Education's Master of Education programs at SFU.
  2. One scholarship, valued at $1,000, will be granted annually in the fall term.
  3. The award will be offered to graduate students who fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
    1. demonstrated academic achievement in the most recent degree completed or in their current graduate program;
    2. promise of outstanding achievement at the graduate level;
    3. is enrolled part-time or full-time at Simon Fraser University in a Master of Education graduate program in the Faculty of Education; and
    4. is currently teaching while pursuing their graduate degree.
  4. The application must be made via the Grad Awards, Application and Adjudication System (GA3). Required documents include:
    1. current, unofficial SFU transcript and/or a copy of the transcript of the most recent degree program completed; and
    2. one letter of reference from an SFU faculty member familiar with the applicant's achievements or from an employer.
  5. If a suitable candidate is not identified, the scholarship may be disbursed in a subsequent term or year.
  6. The completed application and all supporting documentation should be submitted via GA3, to be reviewed by the Director, Graduate Programs in the Faculty of Education.
  7. The award will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee, based on the recommendation of the Director of the Graduate Programs in the Faculty of Education.
