Andre Gerolymatos Graduate Award in Environmental Security

Terms of Reference

  1. The purpose of this award is to recognize and provide financial support to graduate students in the Faculty of Environment who aim to improve aspects of environmental and resource security such as food security {including fisheries), water security, biodiversity or energy security.
  2. One or more awards, valued at a minimum of $1,000 each, will be granted to students who fulfill the following criteria:
    1. have demonstrated academic excellence in the most recent degree program completed or in their current graduate program
    2. are registered full-time in a graduate program in the Faculty of Environment
    3. are conducting interdisciplinary research related to environmental and resource security such as food security {including fisheries), biodiversity, water security or energy security
  3. This award may be held in conjunction with other awards made by Simon Fraser University or other agencies where permitted by those agencies.
  4. Applications will be made via the Graduate Awards, Application and Adjudication System (GA3). Required documents include:
    1. copies of post-secondary transcripts
    2. one letter of reference from a faculty member familiar with the applicant's work
    3. a curriculum vitae
    4. a one-page summary of the applicant's research
  5. If suitable candidates are not identified, the awards may be disbursed in a subsequent term or year.
  6. The awards will be granted by the Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies on behalf of the Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee upon the nomination of the Associate Dean, Graduate and Research in the Faculty of Environment.
